Over the last year we’ve been closely following the cycling careers of some promising midwest juniors, and half way through the 2013 cyclocross season they have some great progress and results to show for their hard work.

Chicago hometown hero David Lombardo of WCJ Racing took home a UCI Elite 17-18 Junior Men win at last weekend’s Cincy3: Kings Cross After Dark. Congrats, David!

Check out this excellent muddy race action coverage, including David’s domination and win at 3:13, taking the top step of the podium at 4:03, and a not-to-miss hug from Dad at 4:41. Boom!

Meanwhile Minnesota & Kentucky comrades Josey Weik and Gavin Haley are having a strong showing in the first few races of their European Cross Tour, despite consistently starting near the back of the pack. They’ve each written race reports covering their experiences on their blogs, and Josey wrote a piece for Cyclocross Magazine as well!

Gavin, Josey and Matt (Josey’s dad) were also filmed for the upcoming project “For The Love of Mud” by Benedict Campbell. Here is the teaser, and there is a frame of Gavin & Josey looking menacing at 1:18.
