How many people were out at Montrose today? I counted 37,ooo people cheering in the sandpit. That was awesome. Never have I been to a bike race before where it felt like more than just a bike race. This was an event, that people were riding their bikes was almost secondary. So many people were out cheering today it just warmed the heart of thebonebell. And it rang almost nonstop all day long. From bacon handups to vegetarians, gefilte fish???,  and dollar bills out of a rubber chickens butt. I heard the lucky girl who snagged a $20 hand up, told she needed to take her top off for that kind of money after the race. That’s right kids we had fun out there today.

The fastest of the day got their due cheers and respect, but the show was stolen by the 4′s races. From a crash with bikes flying 12ft in the air, to Flannel Mike running through a Tour de France mountain style gauntlet in the sandpit somehow, that’s where the real action is. It looks like so much fun, I am thinking of downgrading my license to a 4 so I can ride through all those screaming weirdos. Fortunately, it is also great fun to be a screaming bonebell toting weirdo.

El Maya and Nevada Dave rocked the 123, and I had a great time watching my front derailleur explode sending shrapnel across the start/finishline. Homeslice Justin, exricated the offensive bits fromt he chain, and I rolled on. Where I then proceeded to drop my chain what most have been fifteen times in the last two laps. The enthusiasm of the day was all that kept me in that race, and the top twenty for a hard day in the saddle. To bad the season is over, that was way to much fun.
