Get On the SS!
I started exclusively riding Singlespeed, that is, I converted my Gary Fisher Ferrous to a single speed and was training and racing on a Niner One-9 all this year. There are folks out there that would like to snub the SS contingent to snobbery and perhaps even to the extent of “dirtbaggin’ hipster”. The Lalonde Brothers made sure to keep it hip throughout the racing season and preach it through accolades earned rather than cooler-than-thou-expositions. Singlespeeding is truly a great thing. Simplicity – no chain chatter – and just plain fun. Go fast? Pedal faster! Simple. It has its merits is what I’m saying – and folks have been killing the Singlespeed at races for many years. So it comes to our great delight that the ‘Half Acre Cycling’ team does it again with another 2009 bonus by making their very own ‘Unofficial Illinois SS State Championship’ that will be held this Sunday on October 4th in Chicago CX Cup’s Race #2 also sponsored by Half Acre. Now let’s see who has the ‘grins and spins’ to win this championship – we may have some $5 bills for you jokers.

I’m thinking a swarm of Mountain Bikes – 300 of them – all riding down the path to the theater and locking them altogether in front of the theater. That would make a shot eh?! How many knobs can a sidewalk hold -let’s find out.
