Versus has recently released their illustrious bicycle racing schedule…tada. Cyclysm Sundays is the only game in town. Unfortunately, their game is a little weak, it still bothers me that hunting and fishing show reruns offer better viewer numbers than cycling. C’mon where is ‘the Ronde’, and what about the Amstel Gold? They have to get some credit, they have doubled their Giro d’Italia coverage so they should be commended for that. Unbeknownst to most of the cycling fans in the States, the Giro is the best race in cycling, forget the Tour, it has become a benign spectacle. The French version of the Super Bowl. The Giro still has that under the radar feel to it. This year’s edition promises to be one the best ever. There will be blood on the stages 14, 15, and 16. The Plan de Corones Time Trial is going to send the entire peleton scrambling for Dr. Fuentes’ phone number. 13.8kms of Hell that tips up to a max of 24% and finishes with a gravel access road, they might have to rock the cyclocross tires to get to the top. In 2006 they shortened the race because of snow, and storms on the top. In 2008 the Passo Furcia, and the Plan de Corones will be the entire stage, the show must go on regardless….it will be Sick. And hey, the first race of the Cyclysm is tonght, The Tour of Qatar, one week of dodging sandstorms and the flatest parcours one can imagine. Money talks, and those dudes got more scratch than they know what to do with, good for them. Hopefully all of the first race jitters will be out of the pack by the time they reach California.

It‘s quite in here! Why not leave a response?
